About Lyft

Lyft started in June 2012 and are headquartered in San Francisco, CA. They operate in the United States and Canada. They provide transportation through a peer-to-peer network of independent drivers.

Customers are charged on a dynamic pricing model, meaning the same ride distance from the same beginning and end point could be priced higher or lower depending on supply (drivers) and demand (customers).

Both drivers and customers are given a rating score. After each ride, the driver will score the passenger on a 5-star rating scale and the passenger will rate the driver. This ensures that drivers are on their best behavior as well as the customer. Uber will penalize both driver and passenger if they continually perform below their standards to ensure the quality and safety for both parties.

Estimated Earnings

Earnings with any ridesharing service will fluctuate depending on the location, times worked, demand, etc. The earnings estimates are from multiple sources to provide a rough estimate of what can be earned with Lyft.
